If you want a dog that makes folks smile, get a Doxie. They don't shed as much as most dogs. Most people with allergies can own a weiner dog and breath easy. They don't smell. They wash out like a dish rag. If kids are good to them, they'll be good with kids.
Doxies were bred to go down into badger holes - alone - so they are independent.
But mostly, they're lovers. They love to be with you. If your Doxie is socialized (taken everywhere and introduced all over) when he's young, he'll love everyone.
He like to sleep with you, but should first be trained in a crate.
Doxies come in a lot of colors and patterns so you have a choice.
Colors: black, red, blue, isabella, chocolate, cream
Patterns: dapples and piebalds
Doxies also come in 2 different sizes:
Minature: 11 lbs. and under, Standard: 12 to 32 lbs. Some folks call the Doxies that weigh 12 to 16 lbs. "tweenies".
